Did you read the article by Matei and Rokeach, Frank? If not, then why are you commenting? Do you really care about what I’m talking about, or are you just trying to find out what you can criticize?

I already thought about truth tables before I posted this, and decided that truth tables were for logical implication, not for causes, which is what I am talking about. I think I’m right in that. However, even if I’m not correct, perhaps one could read what I’ve wrote, read the ARTICLE to which I refer, try to understand what I’m talking about, and then perhaps comment. Otherwise, aren’t you just going over this blog with a blind red pen?

You appear to be making a fundamental logical error. Consider the implication “P implies Q”. This is logically equivalent to “not P or Q” which is logically equivalent to “it’s not true that (P and not Q)”. Therefore the negation of “P implies Q” is “P and not Q”. However, with your “shut-in” example you seem to be claiming that “not P and Q” is the negation. This is simple not true. Try a truth table.
